Your Private Sanctuary
in the Andalusian Hills
A private home above Alhaurín el Grande where olive groves meet the Sierra de Mijas. Four bedrooms, private pool, three Moorish arches. Sleeps 8 (10 with the sofa).
Built with care.
Opened with love.
A family built Villa Golondrina in 2009 in the hills above Alhaurín el Grande, with the Sierra de Mijas on the horizon and olive groves on every side. They built it with a craftsman's care, and you feel it in every detail: the three Moorish arches, the roof terrace, the garden they planted from scratch.
We bought it in 2026 for one reason: to share it. We are two families with four kids in total between us, and we know what a home like this means for a family who needs space, warmth, and somewhere to properly breathe.
The house is set up for families and small groups of friends. We don't accept pets or large parties — we hope you understand.
We're new to renting, your feedback as an early guest matters more than you know.
Three Moorish arches
The living room opens through three Andalusian arches onto the terrace and pool. Specific to this house, specific to this region.
Not a tourist town
Alhaurín el Grande is where people actually live, the monthly Saturday market, the Arab arch, the olive oil mill, these belong to the village, not to tourism.
Made for full tables
Two families with four kids in total between us, we built this for long lunches, easy evenings, and rooms enough for everyone. Four bedrooms sleep 8, the top-floor sofa adds 2 more when needed.
See the house before you arrive
Where the evening opens up
Climb to the top and the whole valley reveals itself. The Sierra de Mijas, the Guadalhorce basin, the light shifting over the olive groves. Come up with something cold and watch the day close.
Every comfort, nothing superfluous
Private Pool
Fresh-water private pool with a terracotta surround. Long Spanish afternoons are mandatory.
Roof Terrace
Sunset over the Sierra de Mijas from the top of the house. The best seat anywhere.
4 Beds + Sofa
Four bedrooms sleep 8. The top-floor lounge sofa extends to 10 when you need it.
BBQ & Terrace
Avocado, lemon, and mineola trees. Outdoor BBQ. A long table for evenings that don't end.
Full Kitchen
Wood and black granite. Nespresso machine. We love food, it's properly set up.
Bluetooth Speakers
Bluetooth speakers inside and on the terrace. (A decorative fireplace sits in the living room, for atmosphere only.)
Alhaurín el Grande, what we know
Not a tourist town. Not a resort. A real Andalusian village where people grow olives, argue about football, and eat lunch at 3pm. Here's what we love about it.
Alhaurín el Grande
The 12th-century Arab arch behind the church. The market on the second Saturday of every month, arrive early, bring cash, closes at 14:00. On Sundays almost everything shuts: stock up the day before.
Molino de la Paca
A working olive oil mill on the edge of the village. Visit during November–January harvest and watch the valley's oil being made. Bottles for sale at the door.
Alhaurín Golf
Designed by Seve Ballesteros with panoramic views across the Sierra de Mijas and the Mediterranean. One of Andalusia's best-kept secrets.
Mijas Pueblo
Whitewashed, hilltop, genuinely beautiful, the real thing. Stroll, have a coffee, get lost.
Fuengirola
Family beaches, promenade, all facilities. Jungle Arena indoor playground near the airport, perfect for a rainy day or pre/post-flight.
Málaga City
Picasso Museum, the harbour, the best tapas bars in Andalusia. A world-class city that doesn't try too hard.
Doce Caños Fountain
The twelve-spout Lucena Fountain at the edge of the old town, the sound of running water and a quiet place to pause before walking back in.
Ronda
Clifftop city above a gorge, one of the most dramatic landscapes in Spain. Worth the drive.
